Yes, your makeup will last all day and even as you dance the night away and cry during speeches (just ask some of our previous brides). Working in the bridal and media industries for 14 years, Emma knows what products work on different skin types and uses the highest quality products including primers, powders & fixing sprays to ensure your makeup will last all day and night. Where possible, we use waterproof and water resistant products also (especially mascara). We do full touch ups on the bridal party before we leave, setting your makeup with a light powder and touching up your lipstick. We always suggest taking a lipstick and powder in your purse for touch ups later in the day to control shine and top up your lips.
In terms of hairstyling lasting, we use anti humidity, memory sprays & hairspray, pin curling to ensure the longest lasting hair. Upstyles will definitely stand the test of time. If you are having a downstyle, some things are out of our control such as moisture in the air, humidity.
We highly recommend using clip in hair extensions which Emma can point in the right direction to, to ensure longevity of the style and create a full hairstyle. Even if you think you have thick hair, sometimes extensions add that extra hold and wow factor. Alternatively you could do a half up half down. We also also a touch up service where Emma or her artist will come to your reception venue to refresh your hair and makeup or you can request a hair or makeup change.
Emma and her team bring the whole kit and kaboodle on the day, equipped with high-end, luxurious products to pamper the bridal party. These are some of our favourite brands Charlotte Tilbury, Nars, Estee Lauder, Tom Ford, Hourglass, Urban Decay, Too Faced, Makeup Forever, It Cosmetics, Armani, Bobbi Brown, Stila & MAC. In terms of products for hairstyling we use White Sands, Loreal Pro, Bumble and Bumble, Redken, Nak etc and GHD, Parlux, Babybliss tools are also in our kits.
We ensure all of our products and brushes are sterilised and everything is cleaned in between each client. We use some disposable applicators where possible. The safety and health of clients is our priority.
As a general rule we like to allow 1 hr for each hairstyle and 1 hr pp for makeup. Some hairstyles may take longer than others. For shorter hairstyles and blow drys, allow approximately 30 - 45mins. Extra time is required to apply hair extensions. Emma likes to allow extra time for the bride, to place in their veil, flowers or accessories while keeping them cool, calm and collected.
We also allow some extra time to allow for interruptions that may occur during the day and for makeup/hair touch ups at the end.
Emma does both hair and makeup, though she has an additional hairstylist or makeup artist with her to ensure efficiency in a relaxed environment on the day for 4 or more people. However, if you need to be ready early, a second artist may be required for smaller groups.
Groups of four or more require two artists, so we can work efficiently. If you have to be ready quite early, an additional assistant can be booked for an additional cost.
We generally have a minimum number during peak wedding season (August-April though this has extended due to covid) of five adults for both hair and makeup on Friday, Saturday & Sunday. However, contact us as we may have availability/flexibility.
Yes a non-refundable deposit is required to secure your date. A booking is not secure until a deposit is made, and due to high demand, unfortunately we can not hold the date until this has been made. The deposit is then deducted from the balance.
The cost varies depending on your location on the day. Travel fees apply to most mobile bookings. Parking fees for each artist may also need to be paid for if no free parking is available nearby.
Weddings that require more than 2.5 hours each way may require accommodation to be compensated for.
We travel interstate & internationally also & there is a minimum fee as well as expenses such as flights, accommodation and taxis which must also be covered. This can be discussed in further detail with Emma.
We usually recommend doing a trial so we know the exact look we are going to create on the day which assists with timing and eliminates stress and indecision. It is also a chance to envision how you will look on your big day, seeing it all coming together. You will feel at ease and confident leading up to your big day. In saying this, Emma has created some beautiful looks for her brides who haven’t organised a trial prior to the wedding and they couldn’t be happier.
It’s helpful if you bring some photos to show us your inspiration for your hair and makeup and we go through what you like/don’t like about certain makeup/hairstyles.
We discuss whether you wear makeup every day or if you don’t wear it at all. what will make you feel comfortable. We suggest colours, tones and hairstyles that would suit you.
We ask you to bring your veil or accessories along if possible and a photo of your dress if you can. We also take photos from every angle so we can recreate your beautiful look on the day.
We will also discuss your skincare regime to ensure flawless, glowing skin.
At the trial we generally do one main hair and makeup look and we can make adjustments such as adding more highlight or blush, adding more depth with the eyeshadow. We generally start soft & natural (if you’re a natural person) and go from there, checking in along the way. We can pin some of the hair back, add more face framing, or create more texture. I like to allow 2.5-3 hours for hair and makeup trials & if the time exceeds this due making lots of changes, there may be additional costs.
We ask you to come to the trial with clean, dry hair (washed the night before with no leave in conditioners, oils or styling products) as well as exfoliated and moisturised skin. It is also helpful to wear a light coloured top or one that matches the colour of your dress and one without a high neck preferably so we can see your skin on your neck and décolletage. Please also bring your veil or accessories with you if you can.
A hair and makeup trial costs start from $230 (not including travel). Emma conducts trials on the Central Coast & Turramurra. On occasion, Emma may be able to provide a mobile service for trials if there are 2 or more people requiring a trial.
Emma is often booked on weekends and fridays so trials are generally only available on weekdays or weekday evenings. Ideally we recommend booking your trial approximately 2-3 months before the wedding.
